Thrift Store Makeovers: Popcorn Bin

I really loved this project. I found this bin for $2.40 at a thrift store.

  • Sanded it down
  • Painted it
  • Stenciled it
  • And added a protective coat

So this is the original piece I found at Goodwill. Everything was 25% off too! I knew right away I had to have it because we love our popcorn and I thought it was a totally unique piece I could definitely do something with.

First I sanded it down with 220 grit paper after removing the hardware from the lid.

Then I painted it all with matte black spray paint. Let it dry for about an hour. And then added a layer of clear coat matte spray paint. Then I took some 220 grit paper and took it to all the edges so the original wood would show through.

And last, I used a stencil to wrap around 3 sides and I LOVE how it turned out. What do you think?!
